Let’s Get Drunk Again

Let’s Get Drunk Again—Bo Carter, 1938 (Recorded March 4, 2011) I just put on a record of one of my favorite contemporary ragtime/Delta-blues players, Roy Book Binder, and thought I’d pay tribute to Roy by ripping off his arrangement of this classic Bo Carter hokum blues number. I can’t say that I object to the song’s sentiment, either. Roy was a huge influence on me back in the early 1980s as I eagerly explored the world of sound outside of the kiddie-pop-rock that predominated then and which continues today to be the primary musical movement. I don’t play much blues but maybe I should. It’s a heckuva lotta fun. Thanks, Roy, and thanks also to Bo Carter—a true American original.

I’ll get some chords to you in the next day or so. It’s a cool, bluesy tune, ain’t it?
