Dream Sweetheart

10 03 2011

Dream Sweetheart—Bud Green, 1932 (Recorded March 10, 2011) “Dream Sweetheart” is another one I picked up early from that first Cliff Edwards LP I mentioned in an earlier post. The song represents the essence of Tin Pan Alley lightness and fluff, with a lyric that could be substituted into 1000 other songs of its kind, but with a catchy tune that makes all the difference for listenability. Although I learned this number by ear (as I do for almost all the songs I play) I did once have sheet music for it, but who the hey knows where that is now. I wonder about all the things I once had in my possession that have gone missing over the years. Entropy rules the universe.
